High Council for Vocational Training
The High Council for Vocational Training was established in 1975 by an Amiri Decree on a national basis aimed at the necessary planning and coordination for vocational training. The duration of the Council shall be for two years only, renewable by a resolution of the Council of Ministers. The High Council for Vocational Training consists of representatives of the three production parties, in addition to parties concerned, so that the Council is a mixture of experts and specialists, in the following manner: The financing of the Council activities shall take place through government annual support, in addition to vocational training contributions collected from private sector establishments who employ 50 or more workers, at a rate of 4% of the salaries of expatriate employees. The establishment shall be entitled to recover 75% of the amount paid. The balance shall be used to cover the administrative expenses of the High Council and the Specific Councils, in addition to program for training and qualifying of job seekers. As a part of efforts by the Kingdom of Bahrain, aimed at supporting the national economy and increasing its competitiveness to improve the living standards of Bahraini citizens, the High Council For Vocational Training seeks through its various activities to undertake a fundamental role in drawing policies aimed at meeting the qualitative and quantitative needs of the national economy and provide the trained national workforce, able to compete in the labour market, prepare and train it to meet the national need for trained labour.
